Over the weekend, someone in the town of Hamburg spotted a very weird-looking creature.
I live in the village of Hamburg and while I have never seen an Albino squirrel, I have seen the complete opposite, A totally black squirrel.

So how rare are albino squirrels? According to the Georgia Wildlife Resource Division, the albino squirrel is the rarest kind of squirrel.
Albino gray squirrels are the rarest form of white squirrels. Mammologists estimate that the odds of a female gray squirrel giving birth to an albino offspring are 1 in 100,000.
The most common squirrels in New York are the Eastern Grey tail squirrel. They are followed by American Red Squirrel, the Fox Squirrel, and the Northern and Southern flying squirrel.
The albino squirrel isn't the only albino creature roaming Western New York. In November of 2022 a rare albino deer was spotted in West Seneca.
