Winter Storm Could Drop A Foot Snow In New York

A massive storm moving in from Canada could end up dropping a lot of snow across New York State next week.

An early model is calling for a couple of inches of snow in Western New York to over a foot of snow in the Northern Central part of the state.

Snow in October isn't the norm, but it has happened before including some major snow storms that rocked parts of the state. For the most part, the first "measurable" snow of the season doesn't happen until the first or second week in November in New York.

If this model turns out to be correct, the brunt of the storm will hit the northeastern part of the state with over 16 inches of snow possible over a several-day period.

The storm that is moving across the state not only will produce snow but there will be rain and freezing rain possible. There is also a chance of some windy weather as well.
