Just when DraftKings and FanDuel, the two largest online fantasy sports gambling companies in the country, thought they would be shut down for good in New York State, they got some good luck. Maybe.

Sen. Michael Ranzenhofer, introduced a bill that would hopefully allow the major companies to run here in New York state by not labeling them as gambling. The sites allow users to pick lineups for different sports professionals and get rewarded according to their performance.

Does it sound like gambling?

According to WGRZ:

Under the bill, fantasy sports — including the daily products offered by FanDuel and DraftKings — would be labeled a game of skill rather than chance, which would make them permissible in New York.

"Time and time again, New York has stood in the way, whether by over-regulation or outright banning, of activities that are legal and enjoyed in most states across the country," Ranzenhofer, who represents part of the city of Rochester, said in a statement. "This bill further protects the rights of businesses and individuals who wish to engage in this type of commerce in the state of New York."
