A new study reviewing the data of social security cards issued in New York from last year has come up with the most popular baby names in New York State.

The study, conducted by last names database experts at ourpublicrecords.org, analyzed data on more than 10,000 names.

Here is a look at the Top 10 Most Popular Baby names in New York State for 2024, breaking it down to the Top 5 each for boys and girls.

Starting first with girl names, here are the Top 5 Most Popular names based on social security data.

#5 - CHARLOTTE

Charlotte was given out over 700 times to newborn babies in New York.

#4  - MIA

Mia just edged out Charlotte for the #4 spot being used 772 times.

#3 - SOPHIA

In at #3 is Sophia who was given out just over 800 times.

#2 - EMMA

Emma comes in as the second most popular name for a girl in New York being used 864 times.

#1 - OLIVIA

In at #1 with over 900 new babies being given the name in New York is Olivia.

#5 -  JACOB

Jacob just edged out Oliver to make it into the Top 5

#4 - JOSEPH

A classic name comes in at #4 with Joseph being used for just under 700 baby boys in New York State.

Lucas comes in as the third most popular name for a baby boy in New York as it was used over 800 times.

#2 - Noah

The second most popular baby name for a boy in New York is Noah. It was used over 1200 times.

#1 - LIAM

The most popular name for a baby boy in New York is Liam. This name was used over 1400 times according to the data.
