Lake Effect Snow Impacts Western New York

There are a couple of winter weather advisories and warnings in place for parts of Western New York. A winter weather advisory has been issued for Cattaraugus, Northern Erie, Niagara, and Orleans counties until 10 am on Wednesday.

A winter weather advisory for Cattaraugus and Southern Erie County is in place until 1 pm today. A lake effect warning is also in place for Chautauqua County until 1 pm today as well.

There could be an additional 4 to 11 inches of lake effect snow between Tuesday morning and Wednesday afternoon across Western New York.

Snow/Rain Mix Expected Across Western New York On Wednesday

Things will get very interesting on the roads on Wednesday. With more snow expected across Western New York tonight and early Wednesday morning, roads could become very difficult to drive on. That snow is expected to mix with rain on Wednesday morning as well, so there could be a great chance of black ice and slippery roads across the 716 on Wednesday morning.

The commute on Tuesday will be a bit easier since most schools are closed for Veterans Day and there will be fewer school buses on the roads.
