It didn't take long for one of my favorite social media posts to show up in 2026. For the past several years, people all over Western New York have taken to social media asking one question that they know 99% of the other people on that page won't know the answer to: "What was that noise?"

First "What Was That Noise" Post Of 2026

The first post on social media asking "What was that noise?" came on January 6th, around 6 am. Someone posted this in the Lancaster/Depew Neighbors Helping Neighbors Facebook page.

The best part of these types of posts, at least for me, is the comments. Some people in the group take it very seriously. They will comment with ideas and other news that they have heard on social media.

Some people like to have fun with their comments of the post and will say random and weird things, like it was an Elephant falling off a train.

Then comes my favorite, the conspiracy theorists. These are the people who think the President of a random nation is sending in special forces to taint our water supply in Depew. Or they claim it is an inside job and the mayor is really an alien who wants to take over the world, starting here in Lancaster, New York.

Do people ever get the right answer when they ask these questions? I think maybe every once in a while someone will truly know what is going on and comment, but for the most part, it is just the rest of the group guessing.

So the real question is, "Do You Know What That Noise Was?" Let me know HERE or send me a message using our APP.
