Weather Advisories Issued Across New York State
The start of April will be a rocking one across New York State.
There are several weather advisories in place for today across New York State.
WESTERN NEW YORK WEATHER
Starting in Western New York, there is a wind advisory in place starting at 4 pm this afternoon and will continue until 6 am on Thursday. The wind advisory is in place for several counties in Western New York, including Southern Erie and Chautauqua counties.
Wind gusts could get as high as 50 miles per hour, with steady wind speeds of 20-30 miles per hour. The wind could cause damage to trees, powerlines, and outdoor furniture. Power outages are possible during the storm as well.
CENTERAL NEW YORK WEATHER
Out in Central and Northern New York, the battle with Old Man Winter continues. There is a Winter Weather advisory in place for several counties, including Northern Herkimer, Hamilton, and Northern Saratog, from 5 pm tonight until 11 am on Thursday. The biggest issue will be sleet and ice.
That could cause issues while traveling since the ice will cause slippery road conditions. You will also want to be careful when walking outdoors around your home. The ice could make sidewalks and stairs very slippery today. The ice could also cause problems with power lines and trees.
DOWNSTATE NEW YORK WEATHER
It looks like Downstate will have the nicest weather today. There is a hazardous weather outlook for areas around Albany and north of New York City. Freezing rain could end up causing some slippery conditions along roads and sidewalks.
