Is Von Miller Retiring From The Buffalo Bills?
Could the Buffalo Bills' decision on Von Miller be forced upon them?
Von Miller, who signed a six-year $100 million contract with the Buffalo Bills in 2022, was rumored to be announcing his retirement.
If that were true, the Bills would get hit with a nearly $28 million dollar "dead money" cap.
According to the NFL, any player who retires and is still owed money will have that money amount accelerated onto the team's salary cap for the current year.
Miller has three years remaining on his current deal with a base salary of $6,347,000 for 2025 and 2026, and a base salary of $2,669,000 for 2027.
IS VON MILLER RETIRING FROM THE NFL?
The news of Von Miller retiring was posted on an NFL parody account called "Superrealnflnews," so the chances of Miller calling it quits are slim to none. This would fall under the "You Can't Believe Everything You See On The Internet."
The main change with Miller could be the Bills releasing him this offseason. The Bills would save just under $9 million in cap space, but they would still be hit with a "Dead Money" cap hit of over $15 million.

The Buffalo Bills are currently over the salary cap by $12 million, so changes are going to happen at some point this offseason. Miller has the second-highest cap hit on the team behind quarterback Josh Allen.
