Valentine's Day is coming up this Friday, and if you are a last-minute shopper, there are certain "gifts" you will want to stay away from this year.

Here are 5 Valentine's Day gifts NOT to give someone from Western New York.

BOTTLE OF RANCH

Here in Buffalo, we eat our wings with Blue Cheese. Handing someone a bottle of ranch to go with their wings or salad is a big no-no. Blue Cheese dressing is perfect for salads in Western New York, too. If you want to give someone ranch, move to Hidden Valley.

BUFFALO SABRES JERSEY

Sure, most of us love our hometown team, but if we gift a Buffalo Sabres jersey, it is like saying the relationship won't work out. The Sabres haven't been to the playoffs since like 2011, so you don't want to show your love with a team that can't win. A Bandit jersey is better since they can win Championships.

A NEW SET OF TIRES

This is another gift that shows short-term love. Sure, it sounds great to get a new set of tires, but if you live/work in Buffalo, you know there are potholes EVERYWHERE, and it is only a matter of time before your tire pops. You don't want to symbolize your love with a tire that could explode at any moment on the streets of Buffalo.

A GIFT CARD TO ANYWHERE IN CANADA

Sure, it seems cool to send your loved one somewhere "international," but the way things are going, Canada could soon become the 51st state, so you are basically sending your loved one to "Ohio," and that is not cool.

A GIFT CARD TO GO GET WINGS

Wings are not a bad gift for Valentine's Day, but the biggest issue is that everyone has their own preferred place for wings. Unless you really know that special someone, you could end up sending them to a wing place that isn't their favorite. If you HAVE to do wings, make sure to ask where they love to go for wings.
