Toyota drivers across New York could be getting a recall notice from the giant auto company due to a major issue with front bumpers.

Last week, Toyota issued a recall for over 750,000 Highlanders due to an issue with front bumpers.

Toyota issued the recall for Highlanders manufactured between 2020 and 2023 including both gas and gas-electric hybrids.

The company says in a statement that the SUVs have resin front lower bumper covers that are connected with mounting tabs. If there’s a even a minor impact to the lower bumper cover assembly, the mounting tabs could detach, and parts of the assembly could fall into the road and become a hazard.

Toyota will be sending out recall notices to HIghlander owners starting in December. In the meantime, you can see if your Highlander is part of the recall HERE. You will need to enter your Highlander's VIN to see if it is part of the recall.

If it is, you will be able to take your Highlander to the nearest Toyota dealership and they will inspect the bumper for any damage to the tab. If there is no damage, they will install new hardware to hold the covers. If damage is discovered, the dealer will replace the bumper cover and install the new hardware for free.
