back to school

It’s time to hit the books again. Summer is officially over, and the time for learning is at hand.

Being the first week of school, I figured I'd share this with you.  From what I can tell, this Russian teacher is trying to teach English, but the poor little girl isn't quite grasping it.

Some parents are under the illusion that just because they give their little curtain climbers juice instead of bouncing them off the walls with soda that they are somehow providing them with a lesser evil.

When your kids go back to school, it’s almost like you go back to school, too. Teachers and childhood development professionals agree that when a child’s parents are involved in his education, he learns more and gets better grades. That means, you have just as big a responsibility in his schoolwork as he does.

It is parents favorite week.  Back to school week.  What do we love to do the most?  Take pictures of our kids whether it's the first day of kindergarten or their last year of high school.

I just happen to remember one of my favorite "Back To School" commercials that expresses those emotions perfectly...

I’ve got to start with a confession: I don’t remember most of the commercials on TV during my high school years. But if the commercials were as mind-bogglingly strange as the ones from the 1990s seem to be, I think I might have asked for home schooling.

One of the things that stands out about elementary school for me was my Flintstones lunch box. I remember my mom would tape my milk money to the outside of the metal box every day. My favorite sandwich was, and still is, a "CLT!" That would be cheese, lettuce and tomato (with sweet pickles and mayo) on white bread...

We have less than two weeks of summer vacation left. So sad! My daughter will be a high school freshman this year, and my son is heading into middle school as a seventh grader.  As we prepare to go back to school, a few things come to mind that I have learned through the years.  I thought I would share a few tips with you - and would love you to share your back to school tips as well!

Fall is in the air, and it's just about back-to-school time. In just a few days, local colleges will start their fall semesters, and high schools, middle schools and elementary schools follow soon after. Nobody likes the end of summer, but would winning an iPad make back-to-school time any easier? Yeah, we thought so!

A new national survey finds Americans are spending an average $688 on back to school shopping. The survey from the National Retail Federation says the dollar amount includes clothing and school supplies. The $688 figure is up $84 from last year's $604 average. That sounds like a lot of money to me. What about you?

It's almost that time of year again. In just a few short weeks, Buffalo's students -- from kindergarteners to college seniors -- will be headed back to school. We know hindsight is 20/20 and that you're supposed to learn from, not regret, your mistakes, but our DJs wanted to offer some advice.
