More Students In New York Are Attending SUNY Schools
For the 1st time in 10 years, officials with the State University Of New York school systems announced that enrollment had increased over the prior year.
This past Wednesday The SUNY Board of Trustees announced that enrollment within the SUNY system increased more than 1 percent.
WHAT IS SUNY?
SUNY is the State University of New York's higher education school system and is the largest comprehensive university system in the United States. There are 64 schools that are part of the system.

HOW MANY STUDENTS ATTEND SUNY SCHOOLS?
As of the 2023 fall semester, there are over 1.2 million students in credit-bearing courses and programs and through continuing education and community outreach programs that fall under the SUNY umbrella. Over 360,000 students attend colleges or universities in the SUNY System.
WHY HAS ATTENDANCE INCREASED AT SUNY SCHOOLS?
One of the big reasons for the increase in enrollment has been an increase in the number of applications received by SUNY schools. SUNY waived the application fee which led to an increase in the amount of applications received by the school system.

DOES SUNY OFFER FINANCIAL AID?
Around 75% of students who attend a SUNY school receive some form of financial aid. SUNY schools also offer different scholarships and grants to help students pay for college.
Students can also apply for the Excelsior scholarship program that open to students who live in New York State.
