Buffalo Streets Will Be Blocked Off Around Ball Drop
If you were going to come down to Buffalo to watch the ball drop tonight, officials are saying not to bother. The streets around it will be blocked off.
While it's a huge tradition to watch the Buffalo ball drop at Roosevelt Square, this year it will not be open to the public.
According to WIVB, while it will still be happening on the Electric Tower, you will not be able to access it. The following streets will be closed off:
- Washington Street between Genessee and East Huron Streets from 5 pm Thursday until 2 am on Friday
- Main Street from Chippewa Street to Mohawk Street from 8 pm Thursday until 2 am on Friday
- Washington Street from Chippewa Street to Main Street from 8 pm Thursday until 2 am on Friday
- Genesee Street from East Huron to Ellicott Street from 8 pm Thursday until 2 am on Friday
- West Huron from Pearl Street to Main Street from 8 pm Thursday until 2 am on Friday
- East Huron from Main Street to Ellicott Street from 8 pm Thursday until 2 am on Friday
This will be the 33rd annual ball drop from the Iskalo Development Electric Tower and again, it will still be taking place. They encourage you to watch the event from the comfort of your own home. Coverage will start on channel 7 (WKBW) at 11 pm.
There will also be performances by the Goo Goo Dolls, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, DeeAnn DiMeo, Rod Bonner, Jim Bohm, Will Holton, Daniel Powell, Cal Parmer, and Brandon Sherman Josey.
