Long ago when I was potty training my eldest, I invented the tale of the Diaper Robbers -- a Robin Hood-esque band of thieves who steal diapers from toddlers (far too old to be using them), and give them to the babies who really need them.

So when my kiddos were on vacation with their dad this week, I warned my youngest that I'd seen the Diaper Robbers casing our house, just waiting for their moment when he would be out of town, to pull off their heist. "No diapers?" he asked. Then he frowned.

"I don't want it."

Like it or not, the Diaper Robbers came. Being criminals with integrity though, they left my little one with two packages of Paw Patrol Big Boy Underpants, and filled his diaper box with little presents -- he would be able to get one for a Number 1, and get two for a...well, you know where we're going with this.

Acceptance of his fate went something like this:

First, there was denial...

There was also a ton of crying and screaming, and accidents.

But, he did earn one present from the Diaper Robbers today! Let's see what tomorrow brings.
