It will be a very hazardous commute to work or school this morning in Western New York.

A winter storm has brought rain, sleet, freezing rain, and some snow across Western New York and that has left some roads in Western New York very icy.


A winter weather advisory is still in place for Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Southern Erie counties until 7 am on Friday morning as some snow is expected to move across that area later today and overnight into Friday morning.

The National Weather Service in Buffalo is expecting a lot of that rain to switch over to snow for the southern part of Western New York and that could end up bringing between 4 to 8 inches of snow to those areas by Friday morning. Winds gusts will also be an issue with gusts reaching up to 45 miles per hour through the evening and overnight in Western New York.

Snow is expected to continue on Saturday and Sunday.
