Much of Western New York is under a Winter Storm Warning with plenty of snow and gusty winds expected today across the 716.
Winter Storm Warning Issued In Western New York
The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a Winter Storm Warning for all of Western New York. The warning is in place for Niagara, Orleans, Northern Erie, and Genesee counties until 7 pm tonight. The warning is in place for Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Southern Erie until 1 am on Friday.
An additional 2-9 inches of snow is possible over the next 24 hours.
Hazardous Travel Conditions in Western New York
Due to the snow and winds, travel across the area will be tough. Plows have been out on the main roads, but a lot of the secondary roads remain snow-covered. The winds are also blowing the snow around, causing white-out conditions.
Here is a video I took coming into work early this morning, around 4 am. It is from Hamburg to Downtown Buffalo, from Camp Road, along RT5, and over the Skyway heading into Downtown.

The snow will continue today and through the weekend across Western New York. The snow should start to lighten up on Friday, but we could see narrow bands of heavy lake effect snow for parts of Western New York this weekend.
