One week after New York State implemented their "Gas Tax Holiday" to help ease the price of a gallon of gas, a new record high price for a gallon of gas has been set in Buffalo.

According to AAA, the price for a gallon of gas this morning is $4.869 which set a new record high for a gallon of gas. The old record was set only one week ago at $4.82.

The average price for a gallon of gas in New York State is $4.988 which is about 3 cents more expensive than the national average of $4.955 per gallon of gas.

Even though a new record high for a gallon of gas was set in Buffalo, Western New York still has the cheapest gas on average in New York.

Right now the average cost of a gallon of gas in Erie County is $4.875 while in Niagara County the price is $4.846.

Even cheaper gas can be found in the Southern Tier with the average price of a gallon of gas in Chautauqua County being $4.804 and in Cattaraugus County being $4.772.

Along with the "Gas Tax Holiday" set up to help ease the price of gas across New York State, both Erie and Niagara Counties also placed a cap on the amount of county taxes that would be collected on a gallon of gas. Those caps are helping keep the price of gas cheaper here in Western New York than in other places across New York State.

The average price of gas has jumped about 50 cents from a month ago and is almost $2 more per gallon than last year's prices.
