Unbelievably, This “Pierogi Burger” Was Not Created In Buffalo
When you see that someone created a "Pierogi Burger" most Buffalonians assume it was made here. Somehow it wasn't...but it's going to be now.
There are few foods that rank as close to the top of a list of Buffalo's favorite foods with wings and beef on weck, but pierogi might be up there. The polish food made of pasta filled with potato, sauerkraut, or cheese are a staple in Buffalo homes. Now, someone has combined one of the most American foods with one of the most Polish ones.
It's the Pierogi Burger!
How have we not thought of this? As I was scrolling through Facebook the other day one of my friends had put up a post with this recipe and titled it, "How is this not a Buffalo creation?" And I couldn't agree more.
The poster says that the inspiration came from a game that he was playing on his Nintendo Switch where a character couldn't decide whether to eat a pizza taco or a pierogi burger and immediately he decided to whip one up.
He says that you could use store-bought pierogi if you wanted, but that would probably mean you would end up eating slider-sized burgers (which doesn't actually sound bad for something like a quick lunch or a party dish to pass). But he ended up creating his own pierogi that would be the size of an actual bun that you would find on a burger.
He used potato, onion, butter, and cheese.
Now I'm sure there are some people out there who would say that this is just wrong, but I can't help believe that if it's wrong...then I don't want to be right. This sounds amazing. I'm sure there are people who said you could never make a dip out of chicken wings too...but that turned out ok.
