It is the start of a new month, and it could be a very important month for the environment around Western New York.

The warm weather will be back in Western New York, hopefully, and that means flowers will be sprouting up and bees will be back in the 716.

Bees are VERY important for the environment, which is why many people in Western New York will take part in No Mow May.

WHAT IS NO MOW MAY?

WHY ARE BEES SO IMPORTANT?

Bees are one of the main ways plants use to pollinate each other. Bees transfer pollen between the plants, which enables them to reproduce and produce fruits and seeds.

HOW CAN YOU PARTICIPATE IN NO MOW MAY?

It is easy, just don't mow your lawn. I know it is easy for everyone to do that. I live in a place with an HOA, and we have certain rules when it comes to the length of our lawn. If you have to mow, you can still help out. Try building a flower box or plant wild flowers and plants to give bees places to pollinate.
