This could be very good news for skiers and snowboarders in the Empire State.

An early look at the long-range forecast is showing possible snow showers moving into the state toward the end of October.

Those showers could produce enough snow to allow area ski resorts to open the first week of November.


If this forecast is true, that means ski resorts could open almost a month earlier than normal. Most years ski resorts will open in December and stay open until March.

If these resorts can get a good base and have sustained weather cold enough to make snow, it could end up being a very good ski and snowboard season.

Of course, this is just one long-range forecast, and trying to predict the weather this far out is more hit-and-miss than anything, but here is to more chances to hit the slopes this winter.

Binghamton - November 6th
Albany - November 16th
New York City - December 14th
