New York Lottery Announces First "Big Money" Winner For April

It looks like April is already for one very lucky person from New York.

The New York Lottery announced the first "Big Money" winner for April 2023. Barbara Filion of Albertson, New York came forward to claim her $1 million prize for having a second-place Powerball ticket.

Fillon matched all five white ball numbers from the October 22nd, 2022 Powerball drawing, just missing the grand prize jackpot by the Powerball.

The numbers from that drawing were: 19 25 48 55 60 Powerball 18.

According to the New York Lottery, Fillon ended up taking home $651,000 after the required withholdings were taken out.

Not a bad way to start off the month of April.

Ms. Fillon wasn't the only "Big Money" winner to claim thier prize over the past couple of weeks. Since March 28th, there have been six winners in New York that won a million dollars or more playing several different lottery games.

The biggest one was Jerson Garcia, who won the Mega Millions Jackpot of $20 million dollars. Mr. Garcia matched all the correct numbers for the Mega Millions January 17, 2023, drawing.

The winning numbers were 02 12 18 24 39 Mega Ball 18.

He elected to take a lump sum payment and after all the withholdings were taken out, he walked away with $6,492,471.

The other five "Big money winners" included a $10 million dollar winner, two $3 million dollar winners, and two $1 million dollar winners.
