Buffalo Has Commanding Lead For New York Golden Snowball Award
It has been a wild start to the snow season here in New York and every year one lucky (or unlucky) city takes home the Golden Snowball award for getting the most snow during the winter season.

The Golden Snowball Award is a competition that puts the five major cities in Western and Central New York against each other to see who gets the most snow. The cities that are in the competition are Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Albany, and Binghamton.
Buffalo has almost gotten 5 times the amount of snow than the other cities in the competition and in fact Buffalo has gotten more snow so far this year than the other cities combined! If you take the current snow total for Rochester, Syracuse, Albany, and Binghamton and it equals 66.5 inches of snow. That is almost three less snow than Buffalo has gotten this season.
Rochester was the champ two years ago, but it looks like Buffalo is going to have back-to-back championships unless of course some massive storm hits the other four cities and leaves Buffalo unscathed.
At least there is a bright spot for all the people in Western New York who are dealing with almost 10 feet of snow, you get to claim the Golden Snowball award once again.
