New York Dad Has Massive Overreaction To His Son

If you are a parent, you know that kids can drive you nuts.

Apparently, I am the dad who overreacts, especially when it comes to money and my son. The good news is that not everyone agrees with my wife and thinks that I overreacted.

Let me set the stage:

I went on a day trip with my wife Elizabeth, my son Avry, and his girlfriend Vee. We went to play mini-golf, have some drinks and lunch, and spend the afternoon in the tourist area of Clifton Hills in Niagara Falls, New York.

We took separate cars, so when my wife and I were leaving, I gave my son Avry $50 so he could have some fun with his girlfriend and do some of the haunted houses, go-karts, and other fun things to do at Clifton Hills.

Did I Overreact?

When he came home later that day, I asked him what he did, and he said nothing; he had used that $50 for gas. This is where my wife thinks I overreacted, because I got mad. I told him that money was to do something fun, not gas.

I feel that if you give someone money for a specific purpose, it should be used for that purpose. If he needed gas money, I would have had him do work around the house and paid him for it.
