National Fuel Raising Rates For Customers In New York
National Fuel announced they will be raising rates in New York State not once but twice in 2025 and then a third time in 2026.
The company asked for the increase earlier this month and their proposed plan was approved bt the New York Public Service Commission earlier this week.
National Fuel cited the rising costs of natural gas and the increase in the cost to deliver gas to their customers as the need to raise rates.
National Fuel's rate increase will happen over a 12-month period.
The first rate increase will come on Januray 1st, 2025, the second rate increase will come on October 1st, 2025 and the third and final rate increase will happen on Janurary 1st, 2026.
The first rate increase will see an average monthly increase of $5.97 for residential customers
The second rate increase will see an average monthly increase of $6.06 for residential customers
The third rate increase will see an average monthly increase of $5.18 for residential customers
In total National Fuel customers will be paying almost $20 more per month in 2026 then they are paying now. In total there will be a 18.6% increase in customers monthly bills.
This is the first increase in rates from National Fuel since 2017.

Energy users in New York have already seen an increase in their rates after NYSEG also increase their rates. Their three year rate increase started in 2023 with the third and final rate increase set to come in May of 2025.
