You might want to avoid being around some New Yorkers. Today is one of the most hated days in the state.

The whole reason is that people's normal routine is all messed up due to Daylight Saving time.

Today we "Fall Back" and move the clocks back one hour and this irritates a lot of New Yorkers.

People are angry that it will start getting dark before 6 o'clock. They are also mad because the moving of the clocks confirms that Winter is almost here and that means cold and snow.

Plus they could be waking up to cold coffee if they use the automatic timer on their coffee pot and that coffee brewed and sat for a whole hour before they got up today.

The good news is that it should only take a couple of days to adjust to the time change.

Here are some things that you can try to help make the switch much easier.

  • Getting natural light: Try to get as much natural daylight in the morning as possible this will help regulate your sleep cycle. Even getting sunshine through a window on colder days is good for you.
  • Keeping a consistent schedule: Now that the time has changed, try to get on a schedule. Go to bed at the same time, and wake up at the same time.
  • Avoiding over-stimulation: Turn off the phones about an hour before bed. Avoid caffeinated drinks like coffee, pop, and tea. These can have an adverse effect on your sleep schedule.

Today be extra nice to people because many of them will be extra cranky today.
