Over $850 Million Up For Grabs In New York State

New Yorkers will have several chances to win big this week with the Powerball and Mega Millions drawings. There hasn't been a grand prize jackpot lottery player in a couple of weeks, and both jackpots have reached life-changing amounts.

Powerball Jackpot Reaches $258 Million Dollars

There hasn't been a grand prize winner with the Powerball since September 6th, when two winning tickets split the $1.79 billion jackpot. There were five "Big Money" winning tickets sold in New York from Saturday's Powerball drawing, with those tickets winning between $50,000 and $100,000 each. The next Powerball drawing is tonight at 11 pm.

Mega Millions Jackpot Reaches $600 Million Dollars

The next Mega Millions drawing is on Tuesday, and it could turn out to be a record-setting drawing. The current jackpot of $600 million dollars is $124 more than the current record for the largest lottery jackpot win in New York State. The record of $476 million dollars was set by Johnnie Taylor in April of 2023 when he won the Mega Millions jackpot. Tuesday's Mega Millions drawing is set for 11 pm.

Both jackpots this week would land in the Top 5 on the list for the largest lottery jackpots in New York State history.

5.$208 Million Dollars

Daniel Bruckner claimed the Mega Millions jackpot, winning just a shade over $200 million dollars in December of 2011.

4. $319 Million Dollars

Seven co-workers from Albany pulled their money and had the winning ticket for the Mega Millions. They took home $319 million dollars in 2011.

3. $326 Million Dollars

Harold Diamond held the record for the largest lottery jackpot in New York for seven years. He took home the Mega Millions jackpot in 2014.

2. $432 Million Dollars

This winning Mega Millions ticket was sold in September 2021. The NY Lottery does not know who owns the tickets.

1. $476 Million Dollars

Johnnie Taylor took home the jackpot from the Mega Millions drawing in April of 2023.
