Many people who work in New York will soon have some extra money come their way.

As we get close to closing out 2024, the start of 2025 will bring a pay raise for many New Yorkers.

As part of a historic bill signed into law in 2023, the minimum wage is set to increase every year in New York State through 2027.

Starting on January 1st, 2025 the minimum wage in New York is set to increase by 50 cents.

The minimum wage for workers in New York City, Long Island, and Westchester County will increase to $16.50 per hour.

The minimum wage for workers in the rest of the state will increase to $15.50 per hour.

Those wages will then increase one final time on January 1st, 2026.

Starting in 2027, the minimum wage for New York State will be tied to the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers for the Northeast Region. That means any changes to the minimum wage in the state will be a reflection of inflation in the region.

The minimum wage for overtime is also increasing on January 1st for workers in New York State.

The Overtime minimum for workers in New York City, Long Island, and Westchester County will be $24.75 while the overtime minimum wage for workers in the rest of the state will increase to $23.25.
