The snow is expected to start falling later today and continue through Friday afternoon with Thursday being the nastiest day of the week for travel.

1 - Make sure to clear off all the snow from your vehicle. This means the hood, trunk, and roof. Blowing snow from the top of a car can cause whiteout conditions for drivers behind you.

2 - Make sure your tires are in good condition. If your tires are worn they could cause your car to slip more often. You can use a penny to see if the tread on your tires is good or not. Place a penny upside down and if you can see the top of Abe Lincoln's head, you need new tires.

3 - Go slow and give plenty of space. When the weather is back, make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get to your destination. You also want to make sure you have enough distance between you and the cars around you in case you start to slide.

The best thing to do if possible is stay home in really nasty weather.
