New York Town Suing Kia Over Recent Car Thefts
City officials in one New York town have had enough with the recent rash of Kia car thefts and they think the automaker is not doing enough to help prevent thefts so they are now suing Kia.
Yesterday officials in the Town of Tonawanda approved a resolution to file a lawsuit against Kia. The Town of Tonawanda will now be part of a lawsuit that also features the City of Buffalo, Rochester, New York City, Cleveland, and several other major US cities.

Thefts of Kias have been on a sharp incline after videos on Tik Tok showed how to start the car without the keys. The lawsuit claims that Kia knows about this issue and has not effectively addressed the safety issue in a timely manner leading to local government using an inordinate amount of public safety funding.

Back in May, the Kia Corporation settled a $200 million class-action lawsuit over millions of claims that the vehicles are too easy to steal. According to recent reports, car thefts have tripled in the past year in the City of Buffalo.
