Don’t Try This TikTok Trend In New York
The weather is warming up and there is a new TikTok trend that officials in New York State are urging people to not try.
The new trend has already to four people losing their lives or being seriously injured.

Most users of the app are between the ages of 10 and 19. Nearly 50% of all users on the platform are under the age of 30.

Trends are certain videos on TikTok that are going viral and that people try to recreate the original TikTok in their own way.
WHAT TIKTOK TREND HAS OFFICIALS WORRIED?
IS IT ILLEGAL TO JUMP OFF A MOVING BOAT?
You could be fined if you are caught jumping off a moving boat. The act of intentionally jumping into the water from a passenger vessel is considered interfering with the safe operation of the vessel, a violation of 46 United States Code, Section 2302. Fines could be at much as $35000 per occurrence.
BOAT SAFETY IN NEW YORK
In New York, it is a state law that, children under the age of 12 aboard pleasure vessels less than 65 feet in length, canoes, kayaks, or rowboats unless in a totally enclosed cabin must wear a lifejacket. Everyone being towed (wakeboarding, water skiing, tubing, etc.) must be wearing a life vest, and everyone aboard pleasure vessels less than 21 feet in length, including rowboats, canoes, and kayaks, while underway between November 1st and May 1st must wear a life vest.
