Buffalo Sabres Magic Numbers Drops Down To 2 Points
The Buffalo Sabres are now just one win away from securing an NHL playoff spot for the 1st time since the 2010-11 season and ending one of the longest playoff droughts in North American pro sports history.
Buffalo Sabres Magic Number Drops Down To 2
The Buffalo Sabres did what they had to do and won on Tuesday night, beating the New York Islanders at KeyBank Center. The win gave the Sabres 100 points in the regular season, something they have not done since the 2009-10 season. The win was also the 2000th win in franchise history.
The other teams fighting for an NHL playoff spot did their part to drop the Sabres' magic number down to two points. Columbus, Ottawa, Detroit, and Philadelphia all lost on Tuesday, which helps the Sabres.

Tampa Bay also lost on Tuesday and remains at 98 points. With that loss, the Sabres jumped back into 1st place by themselves in the Atlantic Division.
The Carolina Hurricanes won last night as well, so the Sabres and Hurricanes are tied with 100 points for 1st place in the Eastern Conference.
When Can The Sabres Clinch A Playoff Spot
The Sabres can officially end their playoff drought on Thursday night against the Ottawa Senators. If the Sabres win on Thursday, they will clinch a playoff spot this season. The Sabres could also clinch a spot if they lose in overtime and other teams on the playoff bubble lose, too.
Let's hope the Sabres win, and we can finally say the drought is over in Buffalo.
