Sabres Hand Habs Big Loss In Game One Of Stanley Cup Playoffs Second Round
Fandemonium inside the Sabrehood has been going crazy since Buffalo wrapped up the first-round playoff series. The Sabres are facing a team that they're pretty evenly matched with: the Montreal Canadiens.
Now that the second round is underway, the hometown team is trying to repeat a big series win as they did 20 years ago. Today's game at the KeyBank Center saw the Sabres handily put away the Habs 4-2. Now, with a 1-0 series lead, the Sabres have the momentum.

The Sabres put the puck in the net early thanks to some keen play from Josh Doan after getting an amazing assist from Zach Benson just 4:31 into the first period.
Just a few minutes later in the first period, Ryan McLeod scored Buffalo's second goal after Zach Benson was playing like Johnny on the spot with another key pass that led to the goal.
The Sabres weren't done as both Jordan Greenway and Bowen Byram wanted to get on the scoreboard in the second period.
While Montreal was able to put the puck in the net a couple of times in the game, they weren't able to muster enough offense to be able to handle fast and physical play from Buffalo.
Now, after this big Game One win, the Sabres look forward to Game Two of this series. Game 2 is set for Friday, May 7th at the KeyBank Center. Puck drop is set for 7:30 pm, and the Party in the Plaza is planned to get started at 4:30 inside the Ticketmaster Alumni Plaza outside of the KeyBank Center.
Let's go, Buffalo!
