It has been a very good year for the Buffalo Sabres, and one of the main reasons has been the play of their captain, Rasmus Dahlin. Now he is being rewarded for his play.

Rasmus Dahlin Nominated For Another NHL Award

It was just a couple of weeks ago that Dahlin was nominated for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy. The award is given out every year to the NHL player who best exemplifies perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey.

Now, Dahlin is one of three finalists for the James Norris Trophy, which is given out to the best defenseman in the NHL. While several Buffalo Sabres players have been nominated in the past, no Sabre has ever won the award. This is the year that could change.

Dahlin ended the regular season with a career-high 74 points, and he was one of the main reasons the Sabres snapped the longest playoff drought in NHL history. The feat is amazing considering Dahlin took a leave of absence this season after his fiancée, Carolina Matovac, underwent heart transplant surgery. She is recovering and even attended a couple of Sabres games since.

Dahlin will face off against Cale Makar of the Colorado Avalanche and Zach Werenski of the Columbus Blue Jackets, who were also nominated as finalists.
