Josh Allen does not play hockey. We know this. He is the reigning NFL MVP and an all-world Quarterback for the Buffalo Bills. He's brought the Buffalo Bills out of obscurity and made them a yearly contender. How the heck is he going to do that for a hockey team?

It sounds great, though. The Buffalo Sabres are historically bad. That's a statement of fact, not a dig at them. They just set a new NHL record of 14 straight years without making the playoffs, a record previously held by... them. They've made worse decisions than trying to get Allen involved with the hockey team, and at this point, anything sounds better than what they've been doing.

But Allen won't save the Buffalo Sabres by hitting the ice, bench, or otherwise. He might save them by helping them nab one of the biggest free agents out there.

Mitch Marner

Mitch Marner is a star pay for the Toronto Maple Leafs, a team that has an odd similarity to the Sabres. Oh, they win. A lot. They ALWAYS make the playoffs and ALWAYS are a contender, but they have their own sort of drought going on: 2 playoff series wins since 2006, and they have been eliminated in the first round six of the last eight seasons. They face elimination correctly in the second round.

Marner has been excellent for them. A core piece, along with Austin Matthews. He had 102 points this season and has averaged more than a point per game every season since 2018. He is due to be the biggest named free agent out there once the season ends, and Tornoto will likely not be able to afford him, and if they are eliminated again ill want to shake things up despite his incredible play.

He would be a MASSIVE prize for the Sabres to land. They have the cap room. BUT, no one wants to play here. Losing (an ineptitude) will do that. So, how do the Sabres land him? The Answer might be Josh Allen.

How Josh Allen Could Save the Buffalo Sabres

Marner is a big Buffalo Bills fan and said this about Josh Allen earlier this year:

It could be a long shot, but it's not a crazy idea that the Sabres could ask Allen to get in a room with Mitch and sell him on Buffalo.

Marner has attended Bills games as well, CLICK HERE.

That's how Josh could save the Sabres: help them land one of he biggest free agents. Let's hope he can do it.
