New Buffalo Bills Stadium May Be Opening Later Than Expected
The Buffalo Bills have a new stadium coming in 2026. The new Highmark Stadium is being built across the street from the old one in Orchard Park, NY. It;'s a massive project costing over $2 Billion, which nearly a billion of was given by tax payers.
This season, the 2025-26 campaign, is supposed to be the final one at the original Highmark Stadium. It opened in 1973 as Rich Stadium, replacing their original home known as the "Rock Pile." While it's a beloved building, time has caught up to it, and something new was needed. So, the new Highmark Stadium was born. It's scheduled to open for the summer of 2026, in time for the 2026-27 season.
However, a report says that's no longer happening.
New Buffalo Bills Stadium May Be Opening Later Than Expected
According to Nate Benson of WGRZ News in Buffalo, the opening of the stadium has been postponed to December 2026.
This means the upcoming season will NOT be the Bills' final one in their current home.
Again, THIS IS A REPORT and could be wrong, but WGRZ is a credible news agency.
It may surprise some, but not to others. This is a big project, and while it's come along pretty fast, these things tend to hit bumps in the road. The project has already gone over its initial budget as well, though that cost goes to owner Terry Pegula.
