Buffalo Bills Trade Former First Round Pick
The Buffalo Bills' need at cornerback just got a little bigger today after a trade with the Dallas Cowboys.
He was supposed to be the next big lockdown cornerback for the Buffalo Bills, but it just never worked out. The Buffalo Bills' former first-round pick Kair Elam is headed to Dallas for a couple of draft picks.
The Bills will be sending Kair Elam and a 6th round pick to Dallas and receiving a 5th round pick and a 7th round pick back for him.
Hopefully Elam can find some success somewhere else in the NFL. It just never felt like he fit into the system that the Bills had on defense and it was tough to get him on the field. When he was on the field, he struggled.
It became pretty obvious in the playoffs against the Chiefs that he wasn't a great fit here.
But now the need for cornerbacks on this Bills team grows. The cornerback room consists of Taron Johnson (who is our nickel corner), Christian Benford, Jamarcus Ingram, and Te'Cory Couch. Rasul Douglas is set to become an unrestricted free agent by the end of the day and many believe he will move on to another team. Jamarcus Ingram showed a lot of improvement last year.
Free agency begins this afternoon at 4 p.m. You have to believe that Beane has a plan for who he would like to feature there. The question is where he will get that player from. Will we have to wait until the draft? Or will we have a new cornerback on our roster as soon as free agency really starts?
