Since the end of the Buffalo Bills 2024-25 NFL Season, the team has been doing a bit of work over the winter. Several players have resigned from the team, along with other moves the team has made, but none are really a surprise. That includes a move that the team just made, as many were expecting this to happen any day.

Officials from the Bills' front office announced on Sunday, March 9, 2025, that they have cut ties with future Hall of Famer edge rusher Von Miller.

Miller, who has had an illustrious career in the NFL, came to the Bills in 2022 after helping the Los Angeles Rams win a championship in Super Bowl LVI against the Cincinnati Bengals. The hometown team and Miller both had great hopes that he could help the Bills achieve new heights with his top-level play. However, things didn't turn out quite that way for Miller.

Miller's six-year, $120 million deal with the Bills was a large investment that, unformatted, didn't pay the kind of dividends that both Miller and the team hoped. Miller tore his ACL on Thanksgiving in a game against the Detroit Lions. That injury sidelined Miller for the rest of the 2022 season and most of the 2023 season.

When Miller did return to the field, it was clear he wasn't as explosive as he once was. Miller, who was due to earn more than $17 million in 2025, accounted for nearly 10% of the team's cap space in the coming season. The team releasing Miller is strictly due to the fact that the Bills are well over the NFL Salary Cap for next year and have quite a few more moves to make before they are in a better financial position.

While Miller has been released by the team, according to NFL Insiders Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport, it seems that both Miller and the Bills are still interested in him playing in Buffalo and may be working on a new deal to make that happen.
