A lot of people around America don't realize how important Western New York is to the nation. Not only do we boast New York State's only NFL team, we have top-notch food and activities, amazing architecture, and some of the most important people in the country have ties to the 716.

That includes one native Buffalonian who has a huge impact on people in the United States every single day, even if they don't realize it.

John Glover Roberts Jr., the Buffalo-born Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court, returned to Western New York this week to help mark an important milestone for Buffalo, and it helped serve as a reminder of how important we are to America.

America's Top Judge Comes Home For Important Celebration In Buffalo

The United States District Court for New York's Western District just turned 125 years old, and to help celebrate this milestone, the courts hosted a celebration at downtown Buffalo's Hyatt Regency Hotel on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.

The celebration, which was attended by many who are apart of the legal profession in Western New York, featured the Chief Justice who gave a talk that inlcuded details on how his start in Buffalo lead him to Harvard and ultimately the United States Supreme Court.

According to WIVB-TV, Roberts was asked several questions, including his opinion about actions and statements the President has made against the courts; while he didn't specifically mention President Trump, he did discuss how important it is that the courts remain an independent check on the other two branches of government.

While Roberts was giving his talk, protests were happening outside the Hyatt.
