Applications for Buffalo’s 2024 Summer Jobs Program Now Available

It may be hard to think about it now considering the weather we've had so far, but summer is right around the corner. Summer also brings with it the arrival of our kids being out of school. Once school ends, you don't have to have your kids just lying around all summer because there will be plenty of summer jobs available for them to work this year.

The City of Buffalo Department of Community Services has announced that they are now accepting applications for Mayor Byron Brown's 2024 Summer Youth Internship and Employment Program.

For many people, this is the first taste of working and earning money for youth and young adults in Buffalo, and more than 31,000 kids have worked these jobs since 2006. It's also a great opportunity to gain some valuable work experience, make some great networking connections, and potentially gain some important skills that will help for years to come. We also can't forget the best part, which is getting paid.

The Summer Youth Internship Program is set to start in July 2024 and will run for six weeks from Monday, July 8th through Friday, August 16, 2024. Young adults will work up to 20 hours per week for that month-and-a-half.

To qualify for this program, you must be a resident of the City of Buffalo and be between ages 14 (must turn 14 by March 29, 2024) and 21. You also have to have your New York State Working Papers if you are under the age of 18.

Applications are being accepted online right now and must be completed by Friday, March 29, 2024. Please ensure you read and fully complete the application and submit the requested documents with it because officials from City Hall will not accept incomplete or late applications.

Applicants will need to submit copies of the following items along with the application to be considered for employment:

• Birth Certificate
• Social Security Card
• Proof of Address (Must Be a City of Buffalo Resident)
• Proof of Household Income
• Report Card/Transcript for those enrolled in school
