Local Comics Duke It Out For Funniest In Buffalo Area

With the arrival of the warm weather that comes with summertime in the 716, all sorts of people are coming outside after our winter hibernation to find fun things to do.

Whether you're heading to the beach, finding a great concert, or looking for some laughs, there are tons of things happening all over Western New York.

Now, suppose you're into comedy at all, you're interested in seeing some of the best up-and-coming comedians in the region. In that case, there is an opportunity to check some folks out and help decide exactly who is the funniest in Buffalo.

Comedians Compete For Funniest In Buffalo At Helium Comedy Club

Western New York is one of several places in the country that can boast some great comedy, and there is a competition underway in Buffalo to help crown Buffalo’s Funniest Person in 2025.

Building on a comedy concept that originated 20 years ago in Philadelphia, the Funniest Person Competition is an event held in Helium Comedy Clubs across the United States. It has helped produce some of the best young comedic talent in America in recent years. Top-notch comedians like Shane Gillis, Alex Falcone, and Josh Potter got their big breaks from this competition, and the Helium Comedy Club in Buffalo is giving another slate of comedians a chance at the big time.

Several comedians entering this year's competition are known to make people laugh, and funny folks from the Buffalo area, such as Terre King, Big Red, Cash Spaks, and Darnell Davis, among others, are featured, so there should be plenty of laughs to go around over the next few weeks.

The preliminary round of the competition are split up over several days and are scheduled to happen on Tuesday, June 10th, Thursday, June 12th, Tuesday, June 17th, Tuesday, June 24th, Wednesday, June 25th, and Tuesday, July 1st at Helium, located at 30 Mississippi Street in Buffalo's Cobblestone district.
