If you love pork, you need to know about this. There have been lots of recalls this year. They have been caused by a variety of factors like bacterial contamination, allergens, unapproved products, etc. This recall is due to foreign contaminants.

In 2024, there were 296 total recalls, which is slightly down from 2023, according to Food Safety Net Services. There were 1,392 people that got sick from recalled food last year. The number of hospitalizations doubled in 2024 to 487, up from 230 in 2023, and deaths were 19 in 2024.

LSI, Inc. of Alpena, South Dakota, is recalling approximately 2,277,540 pounds of ready-to-eat pork jerky. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, the Korean BBQ pork products may be contaminated with metal. The jerky has "best by" dates of October 23, 2025, through September 23, 2026. The products affected are:

- 14.5-oz. and 16-oz. plastic pouches containing “GOLDEN ISLAND fire-grilled PORK JERKY Korean BARBECUE recipe.”

The products have the establishment number “M279A” in the USDA mark of inspection. The pork jerky was shipped to Sam's Club locations in New York and nationwide. The contamination was caused by a conveyor belt used in the production process.
