While several places around the Empire State have not had a ton of snow so far this cold weather season, the impact of winter has been felt from one end of the state to the other end of the state. In fact, several areas all over the eastern seaboard have seen a marked dip in the average temperature so far this season.

If you ask the average person, they would say that cities like Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse are among the coldest places in America, but the first two weeks of December have seen quite a few places with temperatures that are well below normal, and things don't look like they will be getting much better before the holiday.

According to data released by the National Weather Service, cities like Akron, Cleveland, Bradford, and Charlottesville are all at least 10°F colder than their normal December temperatures.

Several New York Cities Have Been Much Colder Than Normal This December

But it's not just those cities; several Empire State cities have been pretty cold so far this month:

Watertown, Binghamton, Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, and Albany are between 8°F and 12°F colder than average. It's been cold enough for people to be complaining about it quite a bit in break rooms around the state and on social media sites.

The next few days, the region will see the temperatures moderate and warm up somewhat, which should bring some relief to folks across New York State, but those warmer temps will also bring higher wind gusts.

We'd better enjoy it while we can because winter has arrived, and things are only going to get colder and snowier from here.
