Notable ICE Arrests In Buffalo Area Last Month

There was some notable immigration arrests made in Western New York last month. As ICE agents are sparking controversy and outrage by killing and going to war against American citizens, like Alex Pretti and Renee Good - the work that they are doing to remove dangerous illegal immigrants gets overshadowed. Everyone I have talked to understands that ICE has a job to do, however their violent tactics and alleged law breaking is a point of contention. Also, people are left to wonder why Americans and immigrants who are trying to go through the legal process are being targeted. I believe ICE wouldn't be facing such strong opposition from citizens, human rights watch groups, law enforcement and politicians if they focused on removing violent criminals.

Contrary to propaganda that the Department of Homeland security is currently pushing, both President Obama and President Biden removed more undocumented or illegal immigrants than the current administration. According to Newsweek,

"Over Obama’s two terms in office, 5.3 million immigrants in total were deported or repatriated from the U.S. During Trump's first term, the administration oversaw the removal of 2,001,280 people. Numbers then jumped significantly during Biden's term, reaching 4,677,460 at last count in July 2024."

As they say, "men lie, women lie, but the numbers don't!"

ICE sparked outrage with the detainment of a University at Buffalo professor (again, not the worst of the worst). Shovgi Huseynov, who is from Azerbaijan, has no criminal record and is America legally, according to the Investigative Post. Unfortunately, he has done what many of us have done, he made a wrong turn onto the Peace Bridge. Border Patrol agents detained him, even though he is not a criminal and is working here legally.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents from the Buffalo branch arrested an illegal immigrant from Afghanistan. The 39-year-old man, Waheed Allah Mohammad, was convicted of attempted murder after he stabbed his 19-year-old sister multiple times, trying to kill her. He was found and arrested in Rochester last month. Mohammad had entered America legally in 2004, under Republican president George W. Bush. However, his conviction violated his legal status. In 2009, he was entered into removal proceedings and a Justice Department immigration judge ordered him to be deported.

Niagara County Is Limiting ICE Access In Its Jail

Niagara County is shaking up its immigration policy. The Niagara County Sheriff made a major announcement that may disrupt Immigration and Customs Enforcement. ICE agents in Niagara Falls will face new challenges in their attempts to round up undocumented immigrants. As of January 16, 2026, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office will no longer allow ICE agents to use its jail to hold certain illegal immigrants. You can read more about it here.

I have noticed that ICE agents in Western New York target women a lot. There is a disproportionate number of women who get arrested verses males.
