With Western New York looking at another winter storm on the way to the area, people are doing what they almost always seem to do - wait until the last minute to grab those last-minute supplies. That was the scene in many stores all around the Buffalo area as people mobbed grocers to get the necessities to ride out another few days at home.

The need to stock up on supplies seems justified as schools and businesses all over Western New York have announced they intend to close on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, as the storm blows into the 716.

Buffalo Area Grocery Stores Cleaned Out Of Key Supplies

I stopped by the Wegmans on Amherst Street around 8 pm on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, and to say it was busy was an understatement.

The staff in the store was working hard to keep the shelves as stocked as they could, but there was so much activity that many sections of the store were bare.

I'm generally a person who is prepared for just about any situation that may arise, be it a power outage or other weather emergency, so I wasn't looking for anything urgent. However, for those who were, the store was in a very short supply of household staples like bread, water, and some produce.

One of the best ways to make sure you're not caught unprepared is to make sure you're ready for bad weather ahead of time.

More Snow Is On The Way To Buffalo and Western New York

According to the National Weather Service, at least another 2 feet of snow is on the way to the Buffalo area.

The lake effect bands are expected to follow a similar pattern as they did a few days ago. Snow will start in the southtowns and then shift north and park over the city for a few hours.

Government officials do not believe this storm will lead to driving and travel bans like the last storm, but they advise people to take things slow as road conditions will not be good.
