It looks like the lake effect snow machine will be firing on all cylinders for parts of Western New York today and into the weekend.
Winter is officially here in the 716, and of course, we can expect snow, but some parts of Western New York will be in the perfect spot for some narrow bands of Lake Effect snowstorms to hammer them with snow.
If you love to ski or snowboard, this news should make you happy, and the ski resorts in the 716 are smack dab in the middle of these Lake Effect snow bands.
Lake Effect Snow Warning Issued In Western New York
Parts of the 716 are under a Lake Effect Snow warning until Friday morning at 4 am. The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued the warning for Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Southern Erie counties.

Most of the snow will stay well south of the Southtowns, with areas like Jamestown, Springville, and Colden getting most of the lake effect snow.

Things look like they will get very cold as the Polar Vortex will drop south into Western New York this weekend. We are looking at highs in the 20s and wind chills in single digits for the weekend.
