New York’s Only NFL Team Grounds The Jets In New Jersey, Winning 30-10
With the start of the second week of the 2025 NFL season, several teams in the league are scheduled to face off against an opponent in their division. The Bills, from Buffalo, New York, traveled out of state to East Rutherford to face the New Jersey New York Jets.
These two rivals, who have been battling against each other for 65 years, faced each other for the first time on September 11, 1960, and now match up for the 130th time. Over the last 6-and-a-half decades, the Bills lead the all-time series with 72 wins against the Jets' 58 wins.
Even though the hometown team had plenty of injuries to deal with, that didn't stop the Bills from taking control of the game fast and early, scoring a total of 30 points. After the Jets went three-and-out on their first series, Buffalo took its first possession and drove down the field, capping the drive with a 1-yard touchdown by James Cook III.
From there, the Bills turned up the energy on both sides of the ball, with the offense and defense stepping up in a major way.
Matt Prater had 3 field goals, James Cook ran for more than 100 yards, including a big 44-yard run. Josh Allen, who had to leave the game for a few plays after getting hit in the nose, threw for Josh Palmer, Elijah Moore, Keon Coleman, Dalton Kincaid, Dawson Knox, and more; in addition to himself breaking out on a big 40-yard run
Joey Bosa, Taylor Rapp, Cole Bishop, Christian Benford, Terrel Bernard, and more all turned in top-notch performances in making sure the Jets offense could not get any sort of rhythm.
With this big victory for Buffalo, the Bills now look forward to NFL Week Three when they host the Miami Dolphins on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park.
