The cold winter weather has returned to New York State and those who love outdoor winter sports are taking advantage of it!

The forecast is calling for a return to temperatures that are more mild and around the average daily high for this time of the year. That being said, there is plenty of snow for skiing and snowmobiling.

One of the most popular places to ride a sled is in the Tug Hill region of New York State. It is located on the eastern side of Lake Ontario and is downwind of the lake, in the bullseye for lake effect snowstorms.

Over the weekend, according to a post on Facebook, a snowmobile clipped the side of one of the most popular restaurants in the Tug Hill region.

"Well after 36 years a friendly snowmobiler decided he wanted to add a drive thru window to the Timberview".

It appears that the person on the snowmobile in the video was OK after the incident.

The lake effect snow will take a break for a few days as more mild temps return across New York State.

The Tug Hill area is not only a great destination in the winter, when it snows. It is also ideal for those who love to hike and ride an ATV in the summer.

We spend a week in on a snowmobile adventure around Tug Hill and has a blast! The snow was great and the clubs who maintain the trails did an outstanding job! Can't wait to get back next next year.
