Shania Twain is coming back to Western New York this year.  I got to talk with her as she's getting ready for the tour, and she says it's going to be the "end of an era."

Shania Twain will close out her "Queen of Me" Tour in 2025 with a handful of shows across the United States and Canada. At the same time, she's getting ready to celebrate a milestone birthday in August, when she turns 60.

Today she called to talk about the tour, how she's planning on spending her 60th birthday, a moment in the Bahamas that went viral for her, new music on the way, and more!

The interview starts here

I started out by asking her if there is a difference between how she prepares for tours now, as opposed to how she used to prepare back in the 90's and she explained that the biggest difference was that this was going to be a bit of a book end to the way she has been doing things. The term she used was that it was really going to be the end of an era.

Celebrating her 60th birthday

In August, she will be celebrating her 60th birthday which is a huge milestone. So I asked if she had some big plans. Did she have a big trip planned? Would there be a party to celebrate?

The viral video of her in the Bahamas singing with the band

When we spoke, Shania said that she was in the Bahamas so I had to ask her about the video that has gone viral of her singing "Still The One" at the small bar in the Bahamas. It turns out it was just as random as it seemed.

Still connecting with younger fans

Speaking of the song "Still The One," she's recently had people like Joe Jonas with Sierra Ferrell and Teddy Swims all cover that song. I asked her to comment on how it feels to still be able to connect with Gen Z in that way.

She's coming out with new music

She mentioned that she was recording new music in the Bahamas. I had to ask if there was a timeline as to when we could expect to get a new Shania song?

Performing weddings

We switched gears a little when I told her that one of the big things in Buffalo was the fact that Josh Allen from the Buffalo Bills had just gotten married. So I asked if she had ever performed at a private wedding for someone.

Which would make you more nervous?

Then I asked which she thought would be more nerve wracking - having to perform in front of tens of thousands of people, or being responsible for that very special moment at a young couple's wedding?

What should I wear?

While wrapping up the interview I asked her if she had any questions for me.

Coming home

Shania is coming to Darien Lake on July 19th but then will be headed to Canada to finish out the final days of the tour. I mentioned that it must feel like a big homecoming to finish off there.
