Snack Danger! Is New York State Under the Recall?
Is a large snack recall impacting New York State just days before the Super Bowl? What is likely the biggest snacking day of the year could look a little different if you prefer a certain type of chip.
Here in Western New York, chicken wings are by far the dominant choice when it comes to big game food. We’re blessed to have so many great places that offer some of the best wings in the country. But even though wings are the star of the table, your game-day menu isn’t complete without other snacks.
For many of us, that means chips and salsa, chips and cheese, or a stack of your favorite flavored chips.
Pringles, Cheerios, and Skittles Included in Massive Recall
According to recent reports, a contamination concern has forced the recall of nearly 2,000 food and household products distributed by Gold Star Distribution. Among the items listed are popular snacks like Pringles, Cheerios, and Skittles.
Yes...Pringles.
Not only are Pringles a fan favorite with dozens of great flavors, but the iconic canister is something kids often end up fighting over once the chips are gone.
What Caused the Recall?
Reports indicate the recall is linked to possible contamination involving rodent waste discovered in a distribution facility. While some of the recalled items may have been pulled out of an abundance of caution, officials recommend that consumers follow recall guidance carefully and avoid eating any affected products.

If you have any of these items at home, you should check the recall list and follow instructions on whether to return or discard them.
Does This Recall Affect New York?
Most of the impacted distribution areas are reported to be in Minnesota, North Dakota, and Indiana. However, because products are often shipped across state lines, New York consumers are encouraged to review the full recall list to be safe.
It’s always better to double-check before setting out snacks for your Super Bowl party.

With a new coach and a new stadium on the way, there’s plenty to be excited about in the offseason, even if this year’s game-day snack lineup might require a quick adjustment.
