If you’ve been a recent winner in the New York Lottery on a scratch-off ticket, you may want to cash that in soon! Did you know that scratch-off tickets have an expiration date and a deadline to claim your prize? There’s one deadline coming up that you’ll definitely want to know about—especially for one of the state’s most popular games.

With Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots soaring once again, lottery fever is everywhere. The current Mega Millions jackpot is worth more than $754 million, and the Powerball jackpot isn’t far behind.

But not everyone enjoys playing the numbers. Many players prefer the thrill of spending a dollar and scratching their way to fortune! Recently, while at a local lottery retailer, I asked for a Lucky Sevens scratch-off ticket and was surprised to learn that they’re no longer being sold—and the game might be going away.

I could hardly believe it, considering how popular Lucky Sevens has been. I’ve been playing that game for what feels like forever! But after checking the New York Lottery website, I discovered that there’s an expiration deadline you should know about.

Lucky 7's Scratch Off Expiration Date

According to the lottery’s official information, the prize claim deadline for the Lucky Sevens scratch-off game is November 18, 2025.

Have you ever won any sort of lottery jackpot? Personally, the most I’ve ever won on a scratch-off is under $100. But according to the New York Lottery, there have been winners claiming up to $7,000 from this game!

If that’s you, make sure to claim your prize before it’s too late. Lottery officials say that if prizes go unclaimed, the money is returned to the prize pool for future drawings—meaning someone else could end up with the winnings you were meant to collect.

It’s easy to see how people might misplace their winning tickets. I know I’ve done it...set one aside, only for it to disappear later. But if I ever won $7,000, you can bet I’d be back at the store within minutes!
